It seems barcode4j is not active.
It stopped at svn rev 372

I forked a version at github https://github.com/chunlinyao/barcode4j for my needs.

Recently I am considering to remove avalon from it. But I am not familiar with avalon.

Avalon is a dead project since over a decade. I recently removed Avalon from Apache FOP. But sometimes FOP is used in conjunction with barcode4j. See the refered ticket for details.

At first glance, the barcode4j project also (mainly) uses the Configuration stuff of avalon. Hence, you could take the same road that I took: Clean-room reimplementation of the Avalon parts that are still in use.

Aztec Code is the most resistant to distortion and provides the most fine grained generation controls. Like PNG spec or JPeG spec the full Aztec spec provides a great many options but few can be bothered to fully implement the richness or proffer something exceptionally borked. Aztec Code provides everything anyone could need and then more.

Aztec Code though patented does not require a license or other fee to implement.

I hope Barcode4J will soon feature Aztec Code. :)

datamatrix (square or rectangular) in servlet

Hi all,

I'm using the servlet to generate datamatrix codes. Depending on the length, the generated datamatrix code is either squared or rectangular. As a matter of fact, I'm only interested in squared codes. How do I produce only squared codes? (extending the data with space characters is no option to me)

First read:

BitmapEncoderRegistry.getSupportedMIMETypes() gives me this list:
image/x-png
(image/png)
image/jpeg
image/vnd.wap.wbmp
image/bmp

...and with the optional add of JAI:
image/x-portable-graymap
image/x-bmp
image/x-portable-pixmap
image/x-portable-anymap
image/jpeg2000
image/jp2
image/tiff
image/x-portable-bitmap
image/gif
image/x-windows-bmp

But the class org.krysalis.barcode4j.tools.MimeTypes, which is helpfull to associate fileExtension to mimeType, contains only the following:
image/svg+xml
image/x-eps
image/tiff
image/jpeg
image/x-png
image/gif

I am particularly asking for the bmp format, but i think it will be helpfull to provide all those formats,
plus giving a method in MimeTypes giving the information for a given format if it needs jai.
