Winzip can't unzip ComparePlugin.dll

Winzip fails with "Unable to process ComparePlugin.dll".
Next screen says:
WinZip was able to extract only part of the file because it contains invalid or missing data.
Would you like to keep the partial file?
(Note the partial file will be named CORRUPT.).

I can't install the Compare Plugin. I have the 32 bit version of Notepad++
I get the following error when I try.

Access is denied.
ComparePlugin.dll is not compatible with the current version of Notepad++.

Do you want to remove this plugin from the plugins directory to prevent this message from the net launch?

Sometimes modified text disappears when saving

Sometimes modified text disappears when saving.

As an example, I attach 2 files: "first.asp" and "second.asp".
1. Compare first to second
2. Add the missing "end if" in second file to make it identical to the first file
3. Click on "save"

Result: the "end if" DISAPPEARS.
Please fix!

The plugin has been recompiled with 7.7 API changes and it didn't change version name so it didn't update automaticaly and you cannot trust the version name. You have to unistal it and reinstal it using the plugin manager or using the following link.

ComparePlugin v2 has 64bit version and is working fine:

The only thing to have in mind is to use 32bit version of the plugin with 32bit version of Notepad++ and 64bit - with 64bit Notepad++.

Do you have other files inside ComparePlugin\\ other than the ComparePlugin.dll ?
If yes, you have to move them to ComparePlugin\\ComparePlugin\\ an leave only the ComparePlugin.dll in the first (main) ComparePlugin\\ folder.

I would also suggest you to download https://github.com/pnedev/compare-plugin/releases/download/v2.0.0_npp7.7/ComparePlugin_v2.0.0_npp7.7_x86.zip which is the official Compare v2 plugin for Notepad++ versions above 7.6.x.
That is because the plugins interface changed due to some internal Notepad improvements and the older plugins versions might have problems.

You could also delete all your ComparePlugin files / folders from your plugins folder and from Notepad++ open Plugins Admin ... from the Plugins menu. Select from the dialog to install ComparePlugin and you'll automatically download the correct version for you.

I had similar issue with 64 bit. It looks that the compare plugin does not work with 64 bit Notepad++, i installed 32bit variant and followed the above procedure to copy it in plugin folder and it is working.

I've also tried putting it in a folder called compare.

You have to put the dll in a folder having the same name as the dll - in other words: ComparePlugin\ComparePlugin.dll
