I reviewed the symptoms and I agree this deserves investigation. The most important clue is that files can verify correctly immediately after copy, but fail verification later without timestamp changes. This pattern points more toward a cache persistence issue than toward corruption in the encryption algorithms themselves. Are you stating that the initial copy from source followed by initial hash checking match the destination of the VeraCrypt volume is successful with no anomalies? But if you run your hash script again, then there is a mismatch on certain files. Are the mismatched files always the same file type like jpg,...

Enigma2Illusion posted a comment on discussion Technical Topics

If I understood your post correctly, you will not be able to recover your data due to your attempt to re-encrypt the already encrypted volume thereby overwriting the volume. General Statement of the Importance of Backups If you value your data, always have frequent offline backups of your data on another disk drive due to possible hardware failure, software issues or user error which can cause loss of data and/or access to either the unencrypted drive or an encrypted disk, partition or file cont...

trhfg posted a comment on discussion Technical Topics

So, i have been battling a corruption issue for 7 months. Reinstalled windows. Nothing worked. After many many hours of troubleshooting i came up to the conclusion that veracrypt corrupts files (not all) let's say 1/100'000 file will have the wrong hash after writing data to the drives. I have made a backup script that copies files and checks for the hash (source and destination), copies fine and hashes match. I run the script again and the hash changed. This problem does NOT happen on bitlocker....

John Hoeks posted a comment on discussion Technical Topics

Dear experts! I tried to permanently decrypt my volume with Veracrypt, but it stopped at 0,02 % because of hardware error. To access my data, I tried then to reverse the process and re-encrypt the full volume but it failed at 99,98 %, because of physical error. Is there any chance to get my data from that volume? Thank you!

Mounir IDRASSI committed [9cf234] on Source Code

Translations: add macOS device validation strings

Mounir IDRASSI committed [1af978] on Source Code

macOS: validate format wizard device targets
