Being able to input multiple lines into the debugger using !import code; code.interact(local=vars())

Hi,
When trying to run the debugger in interactive multiline mode as described here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5967241/how-to-execute-multi-line-statements-within-pythons-own-debugger-pdb, I get the following error message:

import: unable to open X server `' @ error/import.c/ImportImageCommand/368.

Any idea of how I can get around this?
