Right now, there is considerable delay(about 4 seconds) between recitation of each ayah in the Zekr application. It would be great improvement if this delay is removed. I use Zekr to learn reciting the Quran and I sometimes want the reciter to go on reciting the whole surah without any delay till the last ayah. I am sure there will be others out there who feel the same.

There is already an option to put in an interval between ayahs. But even if the interval is set 0, there is still a delay.

I think this is the delay when switching to the next ayah. I guess each ayah is stored as mp3?

I would like to work on this if none of the experienced guys are interested.

OS: Ubuntu 11.04 (Though I saw this problem on Ubuntu 10.10 also. Most probably, this is with all the Operating Systems)

"Go to" issue: El-Mu'min and El-Mu'minun (bosnian)

Salaam

I noticed that, when I use "Go To" dialog to search for surah "Al-Mu'min" (Gaafir), I don't get any results. In bosnian language pack, surah "Gafir" is named as "El-Mu'min". The problem is that when I type "mumin" or "mum", I always get only surah "El-Mu'minun" as a result. This is partly understandable since the whole name of surah "El-Mu'min" is contained in the name of surah "El-Mu'minun". However, shouldn't "El-Mu'min" have precedence over "El-Mu'minun" in "Go to" dialog and only when "u" or "un" is added to "El-Mu'min" (i.e. search for "muminu" or "muminun") surah "El-Mu'minun" is displayed?

difference in Juz (each Para of Quran)

Assalam O' Alaikum
As you know there is some difference in Juz (each Para of Quran). Here
in Pakistan and India also, Quran Juz detail is as under:
<juz-detail>
<juz index="1" sura="1" aya="1" />
<juz index="2" sura="2" aya="142" />
<juz index="3" sura="2" aya="253" />
<juz index="4" sura="3" aya="92" />
<juz index="5" sura="4" aya="24" />
<juz index="15" sura="17" aya="1" />
<juz index="16" sura="18" aya="75" />
<juz index="17" sura="21" aya="1" />
<juz index="18" sura="23" aya="1" />
<juz index="19" sura="25" aya="21" />
<juz index="24" sura="39" aya="32" />
<juz index="25" sura="41" aya="47" />
<juz index="26" sura="46" aya="1" />
<juz index="27" sura="51" aya="31" />
<juz index="28" sura="58" aya="1" />
<juz index="30" sura="78" aya="1" />
</juz-detail>

We have change in xml file as above, but it does not give the Juz sign
and Number at our mention Aya. Can you guide us, how we can do it.

I want to package Zekr for Fedora, but as it ships with some stuff which is non free, or patent encumbered, I thought of maintaining a "fork" in Fedora. However, I am still confused about the naming.

Can I use the the name "fedora-zekr" for my fork ? If not, enlighten me please.

Install flashplugin-nonfree to enable Quran recitation." I press OK, Zekr launches, splash screen appears, UI loads and appears, and then the application crashes abruptly.
I do have the flashplugin-nonfree package installed. I reinstalled it, no effect. I also tried running v0.7.1, same error. Interestingly, I tried running the Windows version under WINE, and the same sort of behavior happens. I am attaching the log for the Ubuntu version. I am now running v0.5.0 and it seems to be running w/o problems. Please let me know if I can provide anything other information.

Nullpointer exception

I get the following exception on starting up.

Description: After selecting an offline recitation and quitting, the program will select Abdulbasit as the reciter upon program restart. Attempting to remove abdulbasit-online.properties from the audio folder will cause NullPointer exception.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Zekr, select any online reciter other than Abdulbasit.
2. Close Zekr, and start Zekr again.
3. Observe that the reciter selected is the same as before exiting.
4. Select an offline reciter, and quit.
5. Restart Zekr.
6. Observe the selected reciter under menu item Audio>Recitation

What to expect: The same offline reciter, selected before exiting, is selected.
What happens instead: Reciter is reverted to Abdulbasit

Extra notes: This also applies to any other custom audio .properties file. For example, copy one reciter to some other name e.g. ayyub-online.properties to alatok-online.properties, and change the audio id and reciter name in the new file accordingly. Repeat steps 4-6 above with the new online reciter. You will notice the same thing happening.
